IMD’s National Flash Flood Guidance Bulletin dated 8 July 2026 at 1315 IST identified the area of concern across East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada meteorological sub-divisions. The official IMD material supports a serious road-disruption warning, but it does not establish a nationwide confirmation that major arterial highways are already blocked. The strongest verified wording is that heavy to extremely heavy rainfall can cause localised flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying areas, closure of underpasses, reduced visibility, disruption of traffic in major cities, minor damage to kutcha roads, landslides, mudslides and possible riverine flooding in some catchments. The Government of India has indicated that IMD prepares and updates district-wise early warnings for heavy rainfall and cyclone-related events four times a day, with forecasts valid for up to seven days.
