Emirates Winter 2026 Boom Begins As New Aircraft, Rising Bookings And Global Network Expansion Transform Travel
As the winter travel season approaches, Dubai-based carrier Emirates is reporting strong, forward booking numbers and increased demand for travel worldwide. Emirates worked to enhance their sleek, new fleet and premium travel offerings in preparation for the busy travel season that has greater capacity and improved connectivity to key international markets. Emirates exceeded the expectations they had for themselves for the summer travel season, and are looking to have an even better season for the fall months.
The airline carried more than 8.6 million passengers between July and August, maintaining strong seat occupancy levels across its worldwide network. Emirates is currently operating at approximately 93% of its pre-disruption capacity, while customer demand continues to rise as travellers prepare for winter holidays, business trips and long-distance journeys.

The positive outlook comes as Emirates continues investing heavily in its fleet, digital services, customer flexibility and global partnerships. The airline is strengthening its position as one of the world’s largest international carriers by combining network expansion with upgraded cabins, enhanced connectivity and more flexible travel options.
Emirates Sees Strong Winter Booking Growth Across Major Global Markets
Winter travel demand is showing encouraging signs for Emirates, with bookings for the season beginning in late October performing strongly across multiple regions. While travellers worldwide are increasingly making decisions closer to their departure dates, the airline continues to see higher demand compared with the previous year in several important markets.

South Africa, Brazil, India, Portugal, Egypt, Ghana, Colombia and Saudi Arabia are among the destinations where Emirates is recording stronger booking trends. Demand from Nepal is also increasing through the airline’s strategic partnership with flydubai, creating more travel opportunities between Dubai and emerging markets.
The UAE continues to remain a powerful outbound travel market, with residents showing strong interest in international holidays and business journeys. At the same time, demand for premium travel experiences continues to grow as more passengers choose upgraded cabins and enhanced services.
Emirates’ expanding Premium Economy offering has become a major driver of this growth, attracting travellers looking for greater comfort while maintaining value. The airline is responding by introducing more aircraft equipped with its latest cabin products across important international routes.
Emirates Records Strong Summer Performance As Dubai Attracts Global Travellers
The airline’s successful summer performance highlighted continued confidence in international travel demand. Emirates services connecting West Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Africa achieved seat load factors above 75%, demonstrating strong passenger demand across its global network.
Some of the strongest route performances were recorded on services connecting Indonesia, Côte d’Ivoire and the United Kingdom, where passenger demand remained particularly resilient throughout the peak summer period.
Premium Economy demand also increased significantly during the season, with routes connecting to the Americas showing the strongest growth. The rising popularity of this cabin reflects changing traveller preferences, with passengers increasingly seeking additional comfort, more space and improved service during long-haul journeys.
Dubai also experienced strong inbound tourism activity through Emirates flights. During late August alone, more than 500,000 passengers arrived in Dubai on Emirates services, representing a 7% increase compared with the same period last year.
The increase included returning residents preparing for the new academic year, international professionals moving to Dubai for work opportunities and visitors choosing the city for late-summer holidays.
Emirates Strengthens Customer Flexibility With New Travel Protection Benefits
During the summer season, Emirates introduced several measures aimed at improving passenger confidence and flexibility. The airline expanded its booking flexibility options by offering customers one complimentary date change across its global network, while journeys connected with Dubai received unlimited free date changes.
The airline also reduced refund charges for Dubai travel itineraries and introduced Comprehensive Travel Cover, a broader protection programme designed to support passengers during unexpected travel challenges.
The coverage includes medical protection linked to conflict-related situations and airspace disruptions, alongside airline-managed accommodation support, ground assistance and rebooking solutions when required.
These initiatives reflect Emirates’ wider strategy of providing travellers with greater confidence when planning international journeys in an increasingly unpredictable travel environment.
Emirates Fleet Modernisation Programme Expands Premium Travel Opportunities
Emirates is continuing one of the aviation industry’s largest fleet enhancement programmes, adding more modern aircraft and upgrading existing cabins across its network.
Since the beginning of 2026, the airline has welcomed 18 new aircraft, including 11 Airbus A350s and seven Boeing 777 freighters. Another six Airbus A350 aircraft are expected to join the fleet before the end of the year.
Alongside fleet growth, Emirates is accelerating its retrofit programme, which upgrades existing aircraft with the airline’s latest interiors and passenger experiences.
So far, 104 aircraft have completed the transformation process, including 53 Boeing 777s and 51 Airbus A380s. This has increased the number of Emirates aircraft featuring Premium Economy and the airline’s newest cabin designs to 137.
By the end of December, that figure is expected to reach 155 aircraft, giving more passengers access to upgraded seating, enhanced entertainment systems and improved onboard experiences.
Premium Economy Expansion Gives Travellers More Choice Across Emirates Network
Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin continues to expand rapidly, allowing more customers to experience a higher level of comfort on international routes.
The product is currently available on flights serving 90 destinations worldwide, with additional locations scheduled to receive Premium Economy before the end of the year. Upcoming destinations include major cities such as Paris, Delhi and Stockholm.
The airline is also increasing onboard digital connectivity. Nearly 50 Emirates aircraft are now equipped with Starlink high-speed internet, with further installations continuing alongside the retrofit programme.
The introduction of advanced connectivity is designed to improve the passenger experience by allowing travellers to stay connected throughout their journeys through faster and more reliable inflight internet services.
Emirates has also introduced several new cabin innovations, including U-dream headrests in Airbus A350 Economy Class, privacy dividers in Premium Economy seating and redesigned signature lounges.
New-generation lounges have already opened in Munich, Frankfurt and Manchester, creating upgraded airport experiences for passengers travelling through major European gateways.
Emirates Expands Winter Network With New Routes And Increased Frequencies
As winter approaches, Emirates is preparing further network expansion with new destinations, additional flights and upgraded aircraft deployments.
Helsinki will become the newest destination on the Emirates network from 1 October, with the route launching using the Airbus A350 aircraft. The A350 currently serves 30 destinations from Dubai, with this number expected to increase to 36 by the end of the year.
The airline is also increasing capacity on several high-demand routes. Accra, Tokyo Narita, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will receive additional daily services, while one of Emirates’ daily flights to Delhi will be upgraded to the Airbus A380.
The Airbus A350 will also begin operating services to Larnaca, Malta, Nairobi and Hamburg from late October, followed by Mauritius in November.
Meanwhile, upgraded Boeing 777 aircraft will enter service on routes to Stockholm in October and Frankfurt in November, allowing more passengers to enjoy Emirates’ latest cabin products.
Emirates Partnerships Create Wider Global Travel Connections
Beyond its own network, Emirates continues to strengthen global connectivity through partnerships with airlines and transport providers.
The airline currently has 168 codeshare, interline and intermodal partnerships, allowing customers to access an additional 1,750 cities worldwide.
Every day, more than 13,000 Emirates passengers continue their journeys through partner airline services, creating smoother connections across international markets.
The partnership between Emirates and flydubai remains one of the strongest examples of Dubai’s expanding aviation hub. Together, the two airlines now connect travellers to more than 214 unique destinations across over 100 countries.
The partnership creates more than 4,600 connection opportunities through Dubai, giving passengers greater choice when travelling between regions.
Emirates customers can access more than 100 flydubai destinations, while flydubai passengers benefit from access to over 140 Emirates destinations. Popular connecting destinations include Kathmandu, Zanzibar, Krabi and Belgrade.
Since the partnership began in 2017, Emirates and flydubai have carried more than 28 million passengers across their combined network.
Emirates And Flydubai Continue Global Expansion Into New Markets
The expansion of Dubai’s aviation network is continuing with new destinations added by both airlines.
Alongside Emirates’ upcoming Helsinki launch, flydubai has introduced several new routes during 2026. These include Chittagong in Bangladesh, Benghazi in Libya, Aleppo in Syria and Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport.
Further expansion is planned with the launch of services to Pokhara in Nepal in September, creating additional opportunities for international travellers.
With stronger bookings, growing fleet capacity, upgraded aircraft interiors and expanding global partnerships, Emirates is entering the winter season with renewed confidence.
The airline’s continued investment strategy highlights its ambition to strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading global aviation hub while providing travellers with more destinations, greater comfort and improved flexibility throughout their journeys.
