Oslo Emerges as Norway’s Biggest Hotel Market in July

Oslo recorded the highest number of hotel overnight stays in July 2026, reaching 714,000.

Vestland followed with 653,000 overnight stays.

The capital also played a major role in the national increase. Statistics Norway reported that Oslo, Akershus and Innlandet together accounted for nearly 75% of the total growth in hotel overnight stays compared with July 2025.

This means the increase was strongly concentrated in these three areas rather than being evenly spread across the country.

Norway’s national hotel result was strong, but growth was not universal.

Statistics Norway reported that Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal recorded the largest declines in hotel overnight stays. Both counties saw their totals fall by slightly more than 8,000 stays compared with July 2025.

This regional contrast is important. It shows that a national tourism record can exist alongside weaker performance in individual destinations.

While Oslo, Akershus and Innlandet drove most of the national increase, some regions moved in the opposite direction.
