Holiday homes are becoming more than a getaway as travellers seek a flexible lifestyle. At the same time, sustainability is becoming an agenda, pushing resorts to rethink how they grow.
Holiday homes are rapidly becoming a lifestyle choice, while sustainability is moving higher on the tourism agenda. Travellers increasingly want more than a short escape. Instead, they are looking for flexibility, comfort and a place they can return to throughout the year.

At the same time, holiday parks are examining how they can respond to changing expectations without losing their premium appeal. Sunset Leisure Resorts reflects this shift, with five-star, 12-month-season parks and three new developments planned for 2026. Moreover, the company is exploring eco-friendly options as part of its future plans. Together, these trends reveal a significant change in modern holiday-home demand.
Sunset Leisure Resorts is using its presence at Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show in Manchester to build stronger industry connections, increase awareness of its holiday parks and introduce its latest developments to potential customers.

Speaking exclusively to Travel And Tour World at the event, Tracy Ann Okezie, Marketing Manager for Sunset Leisure Resorts, said the company’s primary objectives during its four-day presence in Manchester were to meet people, network and gain as much exposure for its parks as possible.
“We want to get to know people, network with people, but also look at getting as much exposure for the park as possible,” Okezie said.
Sunset Leisure Resorts operates five unique, five-star, 12-month-season holiday parks. However, Okezie noted that awareness of the parks remains an important area of focus for the company.
She explained that some people may have heard about the parks or encountered them through social media or press coverage, but the company wants to further educate potential customers about its offering and, particularly, its new developments planned for 2026.

Three new developments are planned at Sunset Park, Highfield Park and Limewood, adding another dimension to the company’s efforts to expand and strengthen its offering.
Okezie also highlighted a shift she has observed in what customers are seeking from the holiday and leisure market.
Based on conversations at the Manchester event, she said people increasingly appear to be looking for a balance between their everyday lifestyle and having access to a holiday home.
“I think it’s what I’ve found over yesterday and today talking to people is people want that balancing lifestyle,” she said.
According to Okezie, customers want to maintain a primary residence while also having a holiday home. This demand for a lifestyle that combines a main residence with a dedicated holiday property is an area where Sunset Leisure Resorts believes its offering fits well.
“They want to be able to have a primary residency somewhere but also have that holiday home,” she explained.
The observation reflects the company’s focus on positioning its holiday parks not simply as destinations for short visits, but as part of a broader lifestyle choice for customers seeking their own holiday home.
Sustainability and environmental considerations are also becoming part of Sunset Leisure Resorts’ future planning.
Asked about the use of eco-friendly or sustainable technology across its operations, Okezie said the company is currently looking at its options for 2026.
“We’re looking at all options actually for 2026… on how we can become more eco-friendly within and helping the environment where we can,” she said.
She did not identify a specific technology or initiative at this stage, explaining that the matter remains under investigation within the company’s key team.
“Holiday homes are clearly evolving from a traditional leisure product into a broader lifestyle proposition. What makes this development particularly interesting is the combination of year-round access, changing consumer expectations and a growing focus on sustainability. Sunset Leisure Resorts’ plans demonstrate how holiday parks are adapting to this new environment while continuing to strengthen their premium offering. The company’s three planned developments for 2026 also show confidence in the future of the market. At the same time, its willingness to explore eco-friendly opportunities is encouraging. This combination of lifestyle, investment, innovation and environmental responsibility could create a compelling proposition for the next generation of holiday-home customers.”, says Anup KUmar Keshan, Editor-in-Chief, TTW
For Sunset Leisure Resorts, the consideration of sustainability is part of a wider effort to continue improving its five-star parks.
Okezie said the company is looking at opportunities to become “even better than what we are”, indicating that future environmental measures will be considered alongside the broader objective of improving the existing offering.
With five five-star, 12-month-season holiday parks, three new developments planned for 2026 and an ongoing focus on understanding changing customer preferences, Sunset Leisure Resorts is seeking to strengthen awareness of its portfolio while exploring how its parks can evolve with the market.
The cause is a changing tourism market where travellers increasingly value flexibility and lifestyle benefits alongside traditional holidays. The answer is a holiday-home model that allows people to maintain a primary residence while also having a dedicated place for leisure and relaxation.
The reason is straightforward: consumers want greater control over how and where they spend their leisure time. Meanwhile, sustainability is becoming an important consideration for tourism businesses. Sunset Leisure Resorts is therefore investigating ways to become more eco-friendly in 2026. Its approach reflects a wider industry challenge: delivering attractive holiday experiences while responding responsibly to environmental expectations and evolving customer demand.
