Drone Airspace Integration

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will begin accepting applications to join the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) service provider network on May 1, 2024. LAANC is a collaborative effort between the FAA and the drone industry aimed at safely integrating drones into the national airspace system. Approved LAANC Service Suppliers assist drone operators in obtaining FAA airspace authorizations for flights below 400 feet in controlled airspace.

This year marks the first opportunity for new LAANC Service Suppliers to apply for approval as providers of the B4UFLY Service. It’s important to note that LAANC Service Suppliers do not have the authority to regulate airspace or grant access without FAA approval.

Here is the outlined schedule:

Applicants are required to have a fully developed product ready for submission with their applications.
