In an ambitious move to deepen bilateral trade relations and cater to the growing demands of India’s burgeoning middle class for premium agrifood products, Australia is set to make a significant mark at Aahar 2024.

The Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA) has paved the way for enhanced economic partnerships, and Australian premium food & beverage companies are poised to leverage this opportunity. The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), in collaboration with the state governments of New South Wales and Victoria, is orchestrating the participation of over 20 Australian brands. These brands will converge at the Australian Pavilion, situated in Hall No.1, Stand No.1G-02A, to exhibit an array of top-tier agrifood products to the Indian market.

The showcase at Aahar 2024 is not just a trade exhibition but a testament to Australia’s commitment to quality and innovation in the agrifood sector. Products spanning categories such as sheep meat, seafood, aquaculture, horticulture, grains, pulses, and premium health food products will be on display, highlighting Australia’s prowess in producing clean, green, and safe produce. This reputation underscores the country’s potential as a source for next-generation agriculture and food technologies.

In a concurrent event, the Australian High Commissioner to India, HE Philip Green OAM, will host the inaugural ‘Taste the Wonders of Australia’ event at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi on March 7, 2024. This event aims to foster networking opportunities between Indian and Australian businesses, showcasing the culinary delights that Australian ingredients can offer. The menu, curated by Indian celebrity Chef Saby, will feature Australian ingredients and produce, celebrating the culinary integration of the two cultures.

Partnerships with entities such as ANZ Bank, HCL Technologies, Linfox, HSBC Bank, and Qantas Airways, along with contributions from Avocados Australia, Meat and Livestock Australia, Tassal, the Western Australian Government, Treasury Wine Estates, and Saint Andrews Beach Brewery, highlight the collaborative spirit underpinning these initiatives.

John Southwell, Trade and Investment Commissioner – South Asia at Austrade, emphasized the strengthened bilateral ties between India and Australia, expressing optimism for the future of this partnership. The integration of Australian products into Indian cuisine, from dals to lamb biryani paired with premium Australian wine, exemplifies the deepening culinary and cultural exchange between the two nations. Aahar 2024 presents an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to explore the finest in Australian agrifood products, marking a new chapter in Indo-Australian trade relations.
