This past week, we organized a pivotal webinar connecting our members with European officials in charge of introducing the EU Entry Exit System (EES) and the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), hosted by ABTA.

The event was a special edition of our regular monthly video call and set a new record for attendance, with more than 190 members participating and actively engaging in the Q&A session.

The overwhelming turnout underscores the significance of these developments for ABTA members, as the implementation of these systems affects all UK citizens traveling to EU nations. We are committed to providing multifaceted support to ensure our members are well-prepared.

We are actively voicing our concerns to the UK Government regarding the EES implementation and the imperative to mitigate potential travel delays and disruptions, especially at critical points such as Dover’s juxtaposed controls and the two major international train terminals. These issues were part of my discussion with the Aviation Minister during our recent meeting, and I plan to address them again at the upcoming Government’s Aviation Council meeting.

The recent webinar highlights our ongoing efforts to equip our members with the necessary knowledge regarding these imminent changes, enabling them to assist their clients and fulfill their responsibilities. Following the webinar, we aim to release a Q&A document in the Member Zone to address the inquiries made during the session and to distribute essential information and resources as we approach the launch of these initiatives.

Furthermore, we are dedicated to educating consumers about these adjustments and will introduce a dedicated webpage on abta.com next month, focusing on EES and ETIAS. This will allow members to provide their customers with accurate information to address any concerns.

Our engagement with stakeholders in both the EU and the UK continues, as we advocate on behalf of ABTA members to facilitate a smooth transition to these new regulations.
