Abu Dhabi Introduces Free Shuttle Service Connecting Al Wahda Mall To Emirates Park Zoo And Resort

Published on December 17, 2025

Abu Dhabi has opened another path to the visitors by making it easier to get to the wildlife adventures. The emirate’s capital has made a free weekend shuttle service that links Al Wahda Mall straight to Emirates Park Zoo and Resort, thus giving holidaymakers and locals a hassle-free and easy way to incorporate a nature trip to their city activities.

The initiative, launched through a year-long partnership between the zoo and Al Wahda Mall, reflects Abu Dhabi’s growing focus on seamless urban mobility and family-oriented tourism, particularly for visitors without private transport.

Free weekend transport designed with tourists in mind

Operating every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the shuttle bus runs on a fixed route between the centrally located Al Wahda Mall and the zoo, situated on the outskirts of the city. Friday departures from the mall are scheduled at 2pm and 5pm, with return journeys from the zoo at 4pm and 8pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, pick-ups take place at 1pm and 4.30pm, with the same return timings in the evening.

For tourists staying in central Abu Dhabi, the service removes the need to organise taxis, car rentals or navigation to a less familiar part of the emirate. Clearly branded pick-up and drop-off points at both locations further ensure ease of use, particularly for first-time visitors.

Turning a shopping trip into a full-day experience

The shuttle creates a natural link between one of the city’s busiest retail hubs and one of its most distinctive leisure attractions. Visitors can begin their day browsing international brands and dining options at Al Wahda Mall before boarding the free bus and heading straight to a wildlife-filled afternoon at the zoo.

Tourism observers note that this kind of connectivity encourages longer stays and more diverse itineraries, especially for families travelling with children. The ability to combine shopping, dining and wildlife encounters in a single day aligns well with Abu Dhabi’s positioning as a compact yet varied destination.

Inside Abu Dhabi’s leading wildlife attraction

According to information from the official Emirates Park Zoo and Resort website, the attraction is home to around 250 species and more than 1,100 animals, ranging from large mammals and birds to reptiles and aquatic life. Beyond traditional exhibits, the zoo is known for its immersive animal encounters, including experiences such as breakfast with giraffes and close-up dining sessions near big cats and elephants.

The resort component adds another layer of appeal for tourists seeking overnight stays, allowing guests to sleep close to animal enclosures and extend their wildlife experience beyond a single visit. Educational programmes, guided tours and interactive exhibits also form a key part of the offering, supporting conservation awareness alongside leisure.

Improving access and enhancing the visitor journey

Representatives from Emirates Park Zoo and Resort have indicated that the shuttle service is intended to remove access barriers and make spontaneous visits more achievable, particularly over weekends. From a tourism perspective, this ease of access can be decisive for travellers with limited time or those planning activities at short notice.

Al Wahda Mall management has similarly highlighted that the partnership is expected to encourage family-friendly outings, allowing visitors to transition smoothly from an indoor, air-conditioned retail environment to an outdoor, nature-based attraction without logistical complications.

A strategic move for Abu Dhabi tourism

The collaboration is also expected to support increased footfall for both destinations while strengthening joint visibility through coordinated promotions. For Abu Dhabi’s wider tourism ecosystem, the initiative demonstrates how partnerships between urban landmarks and leisure attractions can enhance overall destination appeal.

Such services are particularly valuable for international tourists who rely heavily on public or organised transport. By offering a free, reliable link between two major visitor sites, Abu Dhabi reinforces its reputation as a city designed with traveller comfort in mind.

Connecting city life with nature

At its heart, the new shuttle service reflects a broader vision of bringing nature closer to urban lifestyles. For visitors, it means fewer logistical concerns and more time spent enjoying experiences that define Abu Dhabi beyond its skyline.

The emirate is developing attractions for tourists to the max and the free shuttle service from Al Wahda Mall to Emirates Park Zoo and Resort is already one of the such incentives. Especially for the visitors, the family on a mini vacation or the global tourist coming to the main city for the first time, the shuttle turns ordinary bus ride into discovering Abu Dhabi’s wild side in the safest, most comfortable and cheapest way possible.
