In a groundbreaking development that underscores the dynamic evolution of airline retail technology, Accelya, a leading provider of tailored, airline-focused software solutions, announced a significant collaboration with the esteemed airline giant, Korean Air. This alliance is set to revolutionize Korean Air’s retail strategy, propelling its customer service experience to new heights through the implementation of Accelya’s FLX Platform.

For over four decades, Accelya has been a pioneer in delivering cutting-edge financial and retail solutions in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, supporting over 60 premier airlines. With a significant portion of its employees based in the APAC area, Accelya is committed to spearheading the Offer & Order Transformation for the airline industry in Asia Pacific, encompassing both passenger and cargo services.

Accelya’s FLX Platform, renowned for its reliability among leading global airlines, facilitated more than 50% of all worldwide New Distribution Capability (NDC) transactions in 2022, as reported by T2RL, a prominent independent travel technology and distribution strategy consultancy. Powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and incorporating state-of-the-art technologies, the platform offers unmatched scalability and dependability. It empowers airlines to effectively showcase millions of retail options across multiple channels.

Korean Air will adopt Accelya’s NDC and the cutting-edge FLX-Merchandizing module, enhancing customer personalization and presenting the most apt offers. Accelya’s NDC solution, pivotal for connecting airlines with retail agencies, connects airlines with over 50,000 travel agents, including the top online travel agents (OTAs) and travel management companies (TMCs). Utilizing the latest 21.3 standard, Accelya’s superior NDC capabilities ensure an average of over 30% NDC adoption among partnering airlines. This leads to enhanced customer service, increased sales of ancillaries, and richer offers for both customers and airlines.

The FLX-Merchandizing module, utilizing both Accelya and AWS technology, refines and personalizes customer offers and experiences. By leveraging advanced technologies, it will empower Korean Air to craft, personalize, and modify its propositions, improving service delivery for travelers through both direct and indirect channels.

“We are delighted to partner with Accelya to enable our modern retail vision and bring powerful innovation to the market for our customers,” remarked Yoo Tae Jung, Managing Vice President and NDC Platform Director at Korean Air. “The exhaustive RFP process has highlighted Accelya’s technological expertise and flexibility. Our partnership with Accelya, a leader in retail modernization, is a key step in reshaping our retailing strategy.”

Sam Gilliland, CEO of Accelya, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our alliance with Korean Air is built around a shared belief in putting the customer first, making modern and forward-looking technology choices and ensuring airlines are truly in control of their retailing journey and not being held back by legacy ‘old world’ technology vendors. The deployment of the Accelya FLX platform will provide Korean Air with a clear pathway towards offer and order transformation, empowering them to control their future, with Accelya supporting them every step of the way. “
