Aim to make India an ecological, tourist-friendly country

With the Indian government predicting that earnings from tourism will increase approximately seven-fold by 2047, a new policy is focusing to make India an ecological, tourist-friendly country with the help of several green enterprises, skill improvement and associating with the private sector.


Government top sources said that the new tourism policy predicts that by 2047, tourism’s influence will go up to $1 trillion and the industry needs to get ready to make the sector viable.


A government official said that from $150 million now, the tourism industry is expected to go up notches higher and the policy has a strategy to keep the industry maintainable with the help of various green enterprises along with talent improvement among other initiatives.


Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh said that these facets will need Cabinet sanction. He said that there are several characteristics in the tourism policy that have been deliberated and it would necessitate additional support together with the Union Cabinet.


As part of the green enterprise, hotels need to initiate alterations and make sure that the influence on the environment is negligible.


The hospitality industry has greeted the emphasis on sustainability. Kush Kapoor, the CEO of Roseate Hotels and Resorts said that the Indian tourism and hospitality sector has definitely become more aware of the advantages of sustainable tourism after the pandemic. He said that they work untiringly to decrease impact on the environment by making use of workable best practices in conservation, facilities, water consumption, and using ecologically responsive products focusing on zero waste.
