Air Canada is set to revolutionize air travel across North America with its most ambitious cabin renewal program to date. This multi-year investment promises to offer an elevated onboard experience for customers and crew members alike, incorporating state-of-the-art technology, refreshed interiors, and customer-centric upgrades. With a focus on improving comfort, connectivity, and consistency, Air Canada’s cabin transformation will span its mainline fleet, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express. The program’s highlight includes the industry’s most extensive Fast, Free Wi-Fi offering, sponsored by Bell, ensuring that passengers can stay connected throughout their flights.
Air Canada Rouge Gets a New Look
As part of this transformation, Air Canada’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will transition to Air Canada Rouge by 2026. These aircraft will feature a completely updated cabin configuration, including 12 Business Class seats, 18 Preferred extra legroom Economy seats, and 147 Standard Economy seats. Each seat will come with reclining capabilities, personal on-demand entertainment screens, and complimentary Fast, Free Wi-Fi for Aeroplan Members. Additionally, a new Rouge crew base will be established in Vancouver, enhancing travel options for leisure passengers traveling from Western Canada. This move is part of Air Canada’s broader strategy to elevate its regional fleet and ensure a high-quality travel experience for all passengers.
Mainline Fleet Gets a Modern Touch
In addition to the Air Canada Rouge overhaul, all Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft in the mainline fleet will undergo significant upgrades. Passengers will enjoy new seating arrangements, advanced in-flight entertainment, and enhanced Fast, Free Wi-Fi connectivity. The revamped cabins will reflect Air Canada’s new design standard—modern, accessible, and warm, inspired by the beauty and sophistication of Canada. This ambitious transformation is already underway, with 15 Airbus A321 aircraft flying with the updated cabins. These upgrades are designed to enhance both the aesthetic appeal and the functionality of Air Canada’s planes, providing a more enjoyable flying experience.

Expanding the Airbus A220 Fleet
Air Canada is also bolstering its fleet with the addition of the Airbus A220-300, a next-generation aircraft renowned for its comfort, efficiency, and cutting-edge technology. Manufactured in Quebec, the Airbus A220 is a game-changer for Air Canada’s regional and short-haul routes. The airline has already placed an order for 26 additional Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with the first of these new planes set to feature the updated design standards, including Airbus’s innovative XL overhead bins, starting in March 2026. The A220’s commitment to passenger comfort and efficiency further strengthens Air Canada’s position as a leader in North American aviation.
Cabin Upgrades for Air Canada Express
Not only will Air Canada’s mainline fleet benefit from the cabin upgrades, but the customer experience on Air Canada Express aircraft will also receive significant improvements. The Embraer E175 and Mitsubishi CRJ-900 planes operated by Jazz will be outfitted with the airline’s new cabin standards by 2026. These enhancements include the roll-out of next-generation Fast, Free Wi-Fi, with 55% of the fleet already equipped. Additionally, 25 De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft will undergo a full cabin redesign, bringing new seating, interiors, and upgraded Wi-Fi to regional travelers, especially those flying from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
Complimentary Beer, Wine, and Snacks for All Passengers
As part of the comprehensive cabin upgrades, Air Canada is enhancing its in-flight service across all North American routes. Passengers on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express flights will now enjoy complimentary beer, wine, and premium snacks, including Canadian-made treats like MadeGood Morning Bars (available on flights departing before 10 a.m.), TWIGZ seasoned pretzels, and Leclerc Célébration cookies. These snacks are served alongside a selection of beverages, ensuring that every flight is more enjoyable for passengers.
