Air Samarkand announces inaugural flight from Samarkand to Istanbul on March 21st

Air Samarkand is set to launch its scheduled flight operations on Thursday, March 21st, with service along the Samarkand – Istanbul – Samarkand route utilizing its Airbus A321neo aircraft. Initially, flights will run twice a week, departing from Samarkand International Airport (SKD) to Istanbul International Airport (IST) on Mondays and Thursdays, with a flight duration of approximately 5 hours.

Zafar Butaev has been appointed as the new CEO of Air Samarkand, succeeding Anton Khodiayan, who will transition to an advisory role while resuming his position as Director General of Air Marakanda, the airport management company.

The Samarkand-Istanbul route holds significant importance due to the historical, cultural, and business ties between the two cities. Istanbul serves as a pivotal gateway connecting Uzbekistan with Turkey and beyond, offering extensive travel options globally. Air Samarkand aims to expand its flight offerings on this route in the near future.

Flight departures from Samarkand are scheduled for 8:00 am, arriving in Istanbul at 11:10 am. Return services will depart from Istanbul at 12:30 pm, reaching Samarkand at 7:00 pm, all times local.

The launch of the scheduled service signifies a significant achievement for Air Samarkand, which pledges to deliver top-notch comfort and service to its passengers. The airline anticipates catering to the high demand for tourism, cultural, and business travel on this route, fostering strong commercial relationships in Turkey.

Air Samarkand’s Airbus A321neo, renowned for its safety, reliability, and passenger comfort, will feature the latest ‘neo’ variant equipped with CFM International LEAP-1A engines for reduced in-flight noise. The aircraft boasts a full economy-class cabin accommodating 221 passengers.

In addition, Air Samarkand will offer an exceptional baggage allowance, allowing customers to check in two bags weighing up to 23kg each, along with 8kg of carry-on cabin baggage.
