AirAsia launched its inaugural late-night flight at set prices for the Hari Raya festivities to Miri, Sarawak, achieving full capacity.

A special send-off ceremony for all passengers on AirAsia flight AK 9644 was held by YB Tuan Loke Siew Fook, Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, and Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, at Terminal 2 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The initiative for special additional flights at fixed rates was introduced by the Minister on March 4, 2024, providing 22,000 seats from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru to 11 destinations in East Malaysia, with one-way all-in fares of RM298 to Sarawak and RM348 to Sabah.

CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, Bo Lingam said: “We are thrilled to send off the first of our 122 special extra flights at fixed fares for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration tonight. As the people’s airline, this initiative is a testament to our commitment to ensuring affordable fares for our guests during this joyous occasion. The Hari Raya festive season is one of our busiest periods with more than 500 flights daily in operations across all our hubs and we will continue to work hard to fly our guests home safely. We thank our Allstars for their dedication, especially those who will be working during the festive period and our guests for flying with us. Selamat Hari Raya from all of us at AirAsia!”

Passengers travelling during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season are urged to use the AirAsia MOVE app (previously known as the airasia Superapp) for self-check-in, available up to 14 days before departure, and to utilize the e-Boarding Pass. For a smoother journey, passengers can register for FACES on the AirAsia MOVE app for quick security clearance and boarding without showing boarding passes and ID.

Given the expected high volume of passengers this season, travellers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before domestic flights. Passengers can bring two cabin bags with a combined weight of up to 7kg and are advised to pre-purchase enough baggage allowance for the best deal.
