AirAsia further broadened its air travel network between India and Malaysia by inaugurating its latest direct flight from Thiruvananthapuram, marking the airline’s addition of a second direct service to Kerala, complementing its existing route to Kochi.

The newly launched route, with four weekly flights, enhances the travel landscape by offering increased opportunities for visitors to discover Kerala’s rich cultural legacy and scenic beauty through its capital, Thiruvananthapuram. Often referred to as ‘God’s Own Country,’ Thiruvananthapuram captivates with its historical structures, delectable Kerala cuisine, unspoiled beaches, charming markets, and more.

The inaugural flight, AK8, was celebrated with a warm reception led by the Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, and Bo Lingam, the Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited. The event featured exclusive AirAsia goodie bags for passengers, who were delighted to take photographs with the dignitaries.

Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said: ‘We applaud AirAsia for their continuous efforts in expanding air connectivity between Malaysia and India, enabling more travellers to visit our beautiful homeland, particularly after the government’s recent announcement of visa-free entry for nationals of India to Malaysia. Kudos, team! Here’s to more to come’

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited said: ‘We’re delighted that our Trivandrum to Kuala Lumpur route took its first flight last night, and are excited to welcome so many eager guests onboard the inaugural flight from this stunning city. Over the last 15 years, AirAsia has drastically revolutionised the travel landscape in India and connected millions of travellers to Malaysia and beyond affordably. We look forward to launching more unique routes, and creating more unforgettable travel experiences for our trusted guests.’

With the addition of this route, AirAsia now offers a robust network of 10 international routes from India to Malaysia, including 56 weekly flights via its short-haul airline, AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK), from cities such as Trivandrum, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Visakhapatnam. Additionally, its medium-haul affiliate, AirAsia X Malaysia (flight code D7), operates two direct routes from New Delhi and Amritsar to Kuala Lumpur, totaling 8 weekly flights. This expansion underscores AirAsia’s commitment to facilitating a comprehensive and convenient travel experience for its customers, connecting them to an extensive low-cost network across Asia.
