AirAsia X has Launched a direct route flight from Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an for Global Travelers

Today, AirAsia X (AAX) marked a significant achievement as it launched its first flight from Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an, becoming the unique carrier to offer this direct route. The inaugural flight, D7 346, was fully booked and departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 7:05 pm on April 4, 2024, arriving at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport by 12:30 am local time on April 5, 2024. AAX Management and Allstars were present to bid farewell to the passengers heading to Xi’an.

This new connection to Xi’an is AAX’s fifth Chinese destination, following Beijing (Daxing), Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chengdu (Tianfu), highlighting the airline’s dedication to growing its network in China and its status as the largest international budget carrier in the region.

AirAsia X CEO, Benyamin Ismail said: “We are pleased to announce the resumption of services to this iconic city in China, making AAX the sole airline providing direct connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Xi’an. As Malaysia-China’s economic cooperation is growing significantly and continues to strengthen with visa-free initiatives, we foresee this route will be popular for leisure and will also significantly enhance tourism and trade opportunities between both nations.

“We eagerly anticipate further expansion of our footprint in China and look forward to supporting the government’s vision of welcoming between five to seven million tourists from the country this year, as well as bolstering tourism efforts for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.”

To commemorate this launch, AAX is offering special promotional fares to encourage travel to the vibrant city of Xi’an. From April 15 to 21, 2024, passengers can secure one-way tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an starting at RM488, for travel anytime up to March 31, 2025.
