In 2023, airBaltic reported significant growth, with a 36% rise in passengers to 4.5 million and an 18% increase in flights, totaling over 44,000.

In 2023, Latvia’s flagship carrier, airBaltic, reported a remarkable year of progress and expansion. The airline saw a significant increase in its operations, with around 4.5 million travelers flying with airBaltic, marking a substantial 36% rise from the previous year. The company also experienced a boost in its flight operations, conducting over 44,000 flights, which is an 18% increase from 2022.

The airline’s CEO, Martin Gauss, highlighted that 2023 was a landmark year with numerous achievements. Key milestones included the expansion of the flight network, now offering over 100 direct connections from key cities such as Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Tampere, and seasonally from Gran Canaria. The passenger count nearing 4.5 million underscores the airline’s commitment to not only bridging the Baltic region with the rest of the world but also enhancing customer experiences and contributing significantly to the economy. Gauss emphasized that these accomplishments are a testament to airBaltic’s ongoing commitment to excellence.

Looking forward to 2024, Gauss underscored the airline’s focus on its ongoing journey towards an Initial Public Offering (IPO) of its shares. This move is expected to further elevate airBaltic’s status as the premier airline brand in the Baltic region.

The year 2023 saw airBaltic carry 339,300 passengers in December alone, an 18% increase compared to the same month the previous year. This stable passenger traffic, even during the traditionally quieter winter season, highlights the airline’s consistent performance. In December, airBaltic carried out 3,600 flights, marking a 14% rise from the previous year.

Comprehensive statistics for 2023 are set to be released in the latter half of January.

airBaltic operates an extensive network of over 100 routes from its bases in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere, connecting various destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
