Airbus Helicopters and SKYCO International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., a state-owned enterprise under China’s Guangdong Province, have inked a deal for six H175 helicopters.

Commissioned by the Guangdong Provincial Government, SKYCO Leasing spearheads the aviation industry’s growth in the province. The adaptable H175 helicopters procured by SKYCO Leasing will be utilized by the Guangdong Government for various tasks such as search and rescue, emergency medical services, disaster relief, and other public service missions throughout China.

“This cooperation goes far beyond the purchase of helicopters. It is an unmistakable sign of Guangdong Province’s willingness to lead the development of the helicopter market in the southern region of China. We are proud that the Guangdong Provincial Government has chosen Airbus Helicopters to carry out this ambitious cooperation project together,” said Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters.

Beyond the helicopter acquisition, both parties have agreed to bolster Airbus Helicopters’ presence in China’s Guangdong Province and the Greater Bay Area through close collaboration with SKYCO Leasing. This entails jointly developing support and service activities, as well as establishing an industrial cooperation framework to pave the way for the development of general aviation by facilitating reforms to open low-altitude airspace. The collaboration aims to explore an efficient business model tailored to the Chinese aviation market, fostering regional economic advancement.

Introduced in 2015, Airbus’ H175 belongs to the super-medium class of helicopters, boasting a blend of long-range capabilities, high payload capacity, and smooth flight characteristics. This makes it an ideal choice for a wide array of onshore and offshore missions, including disaster relief, search and rescue operations, public services, crew transport, and private/business aviation. The 55 H175 helicopters currently in operation have collectively logged over 210,000 flight hours, with 184,000 hours dedicated to the energy sector.
