Airbus Defence and Space has recently announced its strategic move to acquire INFODAS,
a German cybersecurity and IT solutions provider catering primarily to the public sector,
including defense and critical infrastructure. This acquisition underscores Airbus’
commitment to bolstering its cybersecurity capabilities in the face of escalating cyber threats
and the pervasive digitization of its products and systems.
The deal, subject to regulatory approvals, is anticipated to conclude by the end of 2024,
marking a significant milestone for Airbus in fortifying its position in the cybersecurity
domain. INFODAS, headquartered in Cologne, boasts around 250 employees and an annual
revenue of approximately 50 million euros. With additional offices across Germany, including
in Berlin, Bonn, Hamburg, Munich, and Mainz, INFODAS has established itself as a
reputable player certified by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
Airbus’ strategic vision encompasses not only enhancing its cybersecurity portfolio but also
ensuring comprehensive protection for its products, operations, and customers. In an era
marked by relentless technological advancement, cybersecurity emerges as a critical facet
of Airbus’ developmental agenda. This move aligns seamlessly with the company’s
unwavering commitment to innovation and security, particularly evident in flagship initiatives
like the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
INFODAS’ SDoT Security Gateway product family, approved for classification levels up to
“secret,” complements Airbus’ existing suite of cybersecurity solutions. Moreover, INFODAS’
certifications, including those from Common Criteria and other country-specific authorities,
further validate its standing as a trusted cybersecurity partner.
As Airbus consolidates its foothold in the cybersecurity landscape through the INFODAS
acquisition, the company is poised to deliver enhanced cybersecurity offerings to its diverse
clientele. This strategic maneuver underscores Airbus’ proactive approach to addressing
evolving cybersecurity challenges and reinforces its commitment to safeguarding critical
infrastructure and sensitive information.
