British Airways has suspended short-haul tickets to be sold from London’s Heathrow Airport and Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport has also extended its summer passenger cap.

Schiphol Airport announced on Tuesday that they will continue their passenger cap in September and October as well.
In September the maximum number of passengers departing is 67,500 from Schiphol Airport according to a statement they made recently. That number can increase to 69,500 maximum per day in October.

Schiphol has acknowledged a period for curbing that includes two weeks from the autumn holidays. They have an expectation of 3500 passengers to depart from local departing passengers.

The airport has imposed passenger curb as the expectation of the passengers has only increased since then but the airports remained working under tight labour shortages.

Similarly, the British Airports have announced a passenger curb of 100000 departures until September.
In a statement, British Airways stated that responsible action and limiting the fares will help the airways to introduce rebooking possibilities for the existing customers. The airline also stated that the restrictions put on them limit the expansion possibilities.

The issue is happening for most of the short-haul travels although these are expected to rise from August 8. The CEO John Holland Kaye has announced that curbing is also necessary to prevent services to drop too much. He also stated that without the curb the excess 4000 seats were affecting the overall service quality.

However, both the airlines and airports are experiencing delays for the maximum of the flights. Heathrow Airport has experienced a 40% decline in flight departures. Data published on the flight tracking site FlightAware also states that Amsterdams’ Schiphol airport faces the same issue.
