Alaska Airlines collaborates with CHOOOSE to reduce emissions

Today, Alaska Airlines declared about its collaboration with CHOOOSE, a climate-tech company, to offer new choices for sustainability-minded guests in taking action on their carbon emissions due to travel by buying sustainable aviation fuel credits or help climate projects that are nature-based.


A banner on the confirmation page for the reservations requests guests to know more about carbon emissions produced by their prior or impending travel with calculations of emissions on the basis of IATA’s carbon emissions methodology. Guests can select between certified nature-based projects or SAF credits in geographies where the airline flies, like Freres Biochar,Doyon Native Community Forest Project, The Guatemalan Conservation Coast, and much more.


Also, Alaska is gratifyingits guests who buy a certain amount of SAF credits with Elite Qualifying Miles as part of the year-end elite status promotions of the airlines, additionally reflecting its importance on grading and leading the progression of SAF.


Now Alaska Mileage Plan membersthrough December 31, 2023, will earn 500 Elite-Qualifying Miles per $100 of SAF credits bought with a 5,000 EQM limit.


These resources will be used behind the purchase and use of SAF while offering a sustainability-focused method to reach that year-end mileage target and earn elite status for the year ahead.
