Alaska Airlines employees are concluding the week with a positive outlook, as our annual incentive payout has reached a milestone, totaling $200 million for Air Group Employees in 2023.

Our company’s annual payout, known as Performance Based Pay (PBP), is determined by our performance in meeting specific company-wide objectives for safety, guest experience, sustainability, and profit.

Despite facing challenges last year, we consistently delivered outstanding operational results. As a result, employees have earned an above-target PBP payout for the third consecutive year, marking the 16th time in the 21-year history of PBP. This amounts to more than 6 percent of most employees’ annual pay for the past year.

“Credit to our employees, who are the strength of our airline,” said CEO Ben Minicucci. “I am especially pleased that we exceeded our targets in both Safety and Guest Satisfaction, which directly reflect the care, attention to detail, and the quality of work that our people deliver every day.”

In addition to the PBP payout, employees also received approximately $30 million in operational bonuses for achieving monthly on-time and customer satisfaction goals in 2023. The combined monthly and annual payouts for 2023 totaled $200 million.

As a gesture of appreciation, we have granted four one-way confirmed travel passes to every eligible employee, which can be used across our extensive network, including exciting new leisure destinations.

Responding to employee feedback for enhanced travel perks, we have expanded our program to cater to the diverse family structures within our workforce. In addition to travel privileges for spouses or partners, dependent children, and two parents, employees can now designate up to two individuals instead of parents to enjoy travel privileges. This innovative change, suggested by our employees, has been embraced by 43% of our workforce in the inaugural year.

Furthermore, we continue to encourage our employees to explore the skies by providing them with two roundtrip tickets annually, applicable to any Alaska Airlines destination. Employees now have the option to trade unused confirmed tickets for Mileage Plan miles before they expire, usable on Alaska or any of our airline partners.

In celebration of our 90th anniversary, each employee received a gift of 90,000 miles, equating to a roundtrip ticket to any destination worldwide. We are committed to fostering a positive and rewarding experience for our dedicated team members.
