The World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA) is pleased to announce the induction of Amadeus, a premier provider of travel technology, as its inaugural Allied Member. This addition introduces a new category of membership designed to enhance collaboration between WTAAA and its industry counterparts in championing the interests of the global travel agency community. As an Allied Member, Amadeus will offer valuable expertise and perspective to aid WTAAA in shaping its strategic direction and initiatives, focusing on key areas such as distribution, technology integration, and emerging trends in the industry.

“We are excited to join WTAAA as an inaugural Allied Member to lend our
expertise while supporting their mission of representing travel agents
worldwide,” said Juan Jesús García, Vice-President Industry and Government
Affairs, EMEA at Amadeus. “As consumer booking behaviours and technology
needs evolve, it’s crucial for all industry players to come together to address
opportunities and challenges faced by advisors.”

The introduction of Allied Membership aligns with the WTAAA’s strategic goal for 2024 to broaden its collaborative efforts beyond travel agency associations, aiming to include more essential stakeholders within the global distribution ecosystem.

“While our core membership represents advisors, bringing allied travel players
to the table is crucial to drive positive industry-wide change,” said Otto de
Vries,
Executive Director of WTAAA. “Their unique perspectives and areas of
expertise can inform a more well-rounded approach for advocating policies
that benefit the travelling consumer.”

Incorporating organizations as influential as Amadeus into the WTAAA community enhances the organization’s sway in dialogues with stakeholders throughout the travel ecosystem. This increased influence bolsters our capacity to support and promote equitable practices for travel advisors and consumers worldwide.

“With travel technology and distribution systems intricately impacting travel
agencies, it’s vital we work hand-in-hand with partners like Amadeus to
promote sustainable, agency-friendly models,” de Vries said.

As the inaugural Allied Member, Amadeus will contribute by offering insights into WTAAA’s vision for revamping obsolete industry programs, facilitating the adoption of NDC (New Distribution Capability), and molding future distribution frameworks.
