American Airlines presently offers high-speed connectivity on 900 aircraft, surpassing competitors in the industry. From 2024 onward, the airline plans to extend its leadership by introducing high-speed internet to nearly 500 dual-class regional aircraft.

Earlier this year, American achieved a milestone by being the first airline to enable streaming on 100% of its mainline fleet, allowing passengers to enjoy video content from their preferred streaming platforms. Expanding its collaboration with Intelsat, the airline aims to elevate streaming capabilities to unprecedented levels.

American takes pride in providing high-speed connectivity on more aircraft than any other domestic airline. Over the next two years, it aspires to enhance the inflight experience by introducing high-speed Wi-Fi on dual-class regional aircraft. The airline is set to extend its partnership with Intelsat, planning to install new high-speed Wi-Fi on almost 500 regional aircraft starting next year.

Currently offering high-speed Wi-Fi on over 900 mainline aircraft, American aims to increase the total number of satellite-connected aircraft to over 1,400 after implementing updates to regional aircraft.

In the dynamic landscape of inflight connectivity technology, Intelsat’s Electronically Steered Array (ESA) antennae stands out for its multi-orbit functionality. It operates on both Intelsat’s geo-stationary satellites and a constellation of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, delivering low-latency, high-speed internet to American’s customers.

This cutting-edge technology ensures that regional aircraft match the fast Wi-Fi speeds available on American’s mainline fleet. By investing in this advanced technology, American reaffirms its dedication to providing a seamless and connected experience for passengers on all connectivity-equipped flights, enabling activities such as streaming, browsing, email checking, and VPN usage during the flight.
