The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) is spearheading a nationwide Tax Day of Action to advocate for the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, H.R. 7024.

The legislation aims to provide essential tax breaks for the hotel industry, encouraging new investments in facilities and the hiring of employees, which is crucial for maintaining competitiveness during uncertain economic times. The bill received strong bipartisan support in the House, passing in January, and is now awaiting a decision in the Senate.

This Tax Day of Action includes a robust campaign by the AHLA, combining lobbying with strategic use of earned, owned, and social media to encourage hoteliers to urge their senators to support the bill.

According to a recent study by Cornell University, the proposed tax relief could benefit hotel properties significantly, with potential savings ranging from tens of thousands to several million dollars each.

“Small business hoteliers and employees are facing significant hurdles to growth, including persistent inflation, a nationwide workforce shortage, and an aggressive federal regulatory agenda,” said AHLA Interim President & CEO Kevin Carey. “America’s hotels need help navigating these economic headwinds, and on this Tax Day of Action we call on senators to listen to AHLA’s 30,000 plus members and swiftly pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act.”
