Americans are boosting UK tourism

The experts of the tourism industry say that Britain was one of the top overseas countries for the travelers from the US this summer. Americans have assisted the revival of the British tourism industry after going through the crisis that was caused by the pandemic.

In 2022, around 4.5 million Americans traveled to the UK, it was a 2 percent jump from 2019. Besides, in UK, American visitors were the most spending ones and they were staying longer as well. In the UK last year, Americans spent a record $7.45 billion. This data was furnished by the national tourism board VisitBritain.

This figure was a 42 percent rise from 2019 levels. An executive at Visit London, Tracy Halliwell, said that the UK witnessed a huge inflow of American visitors directly after the country raised all restrictions related to travel. 

However, experts note that to the UK, the sector is still yet to make a complete revival from the pandemic drop. In 2022, Britain welcomed 31 million visitors, it was a 24 percent decline from 2019.
