Amilla Maldives, a trailblazer in conscious luxury, has clinched the prestigious title of ‘Responsible Hospitality Partner of the Year’ for 2024 at the esteemed Forbes Travel Guide summit held in Las Vegas. This remarkable recognition underscores the unwavering dedication of the Amilla team towards fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, alongside their steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability.

“What makes the difference at Amilla Maldives is the passion to be as inclusive as possible,” said Hervé Houdré, Forbes Travel Guide’s Global Ambassador for Responsible Tourism. “It is definitely a major responsibility of the hospitality industry to be hospitable to all. There are a lot of great properties doing the right thing everywhere in the world, but we were particularly impressed with Amilla’s approach to inclusivity.”

Narelle McDougall, General Manager of Amilla Maldives, commented “This recognition from Forbes Travel Guide is praise for our team’s commitment to wellbeing, inclusivity and sustainability. Responsible hospitality is about environmental sustainability, and equally it is about inclusivity for all; removing barriers; engaging and investing in local community, culture, employment and empowerment.”

As a certified IncluCare resort and a proud member of The Conscious Travel Foundation, Amilla Maldives is deeply committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can revel in the splendor of the Maldives. The resort has meticulously integrated accessibility features seamlessly into its infrastructure, blending them harmoniously with the interior design and architecture. From discreetly lowered amenities in guest bathrooms to thoughtfully designed ramps in dining areas inspired by local marine life, Amilla continually evolves to enhance the guest experience for individuals with diverse needs, offering regular training to its team members on providing optimal support to guests with mobility or sensory challenges.

In its steadfast pursuit of sustainability, the resort recently completed the installation of solar panels, yielding an impressive 600,000kwh in nine months and significantly reducing diesel consumption by over 170,000 litres. Embracing eco-friendly initiatives, Amilla has introduced refillable, PCR-packaged luxury amenities from esteemed brands such as 19-69 and Marie-Stella-Maris, while also combatting plastic pollution by offering refillable silicone Rolla Bottles to guests, with a commitment to allocate 10 percent of profits towards ocean cleanup efforts through the Jellyfish10 initiative.

Furthermore, Amilla Maldives has joined forces with the NGO Blue Marine Foundation’s ‘Maldives Resilient Reefs’ (MRR) initiative, championing sustainable fishing practices by providing additional incentives to local fishermen adhering to MRR guidelines, thereby fostering community prosperity and environmental stewardship.

Elegant Resorts presents an exclusive package offering seven nights in a Sunset Water Pool Villa at Amilla Maldives, starting from GBP4,450 per person*, inclusive of enticing discounts of up to 30 percent on accommodations, saving couples up to GBP2,780.
