Anantara Chiang Mai Resort

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort is enhancing its luxury cruise offerings by introducing two boats and presenting four distinct itineraries. Departing daily from the resort’s exclusive pier along the Mae Ping River, this expansion integrates the river seamlessly into the overall resort experience.

The Mae Ping River at Anantara Chiang Mai becomes an integral part of the resort ambiance, providing a picturesque backdrop for activities such as morning yoga, breakfast beneath the bodhi trees, poolside relaxation, and rooftop sunset cocktails, all with a view of the city’s historic lifeline. With the addition of a private pier, Anantara now extends its renowned experiences directly onto the river.

Named “JAO Ping,” translating to the “king of the river,” these daily cruises cater to both individuals and groups, welcoming both guests and visitors alike. The fleet comprises two meticulously crafted teak boats: Nam Jai, featuring a scorpion-tail design for up to eight passengers, and Nam Jit, a larger pontoon equipped with a bar, dining area, and dedicated facilities to host up to 24 seated passengers or 40 passengers on a private charter.

Nam Jai Cruises

Adhering to the Anantara brand promise of immersing guests in the authentic destination experience, the JAO Ping morning cruise explores the nearby Wat Ket Karam, one of Chiang Mai’s oldest communities. Guests have the opportunity to tour this unique neighborhood where Buddhists, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs coexist, participating in merit-making activities. A stop at Lung Kajohn, formerly a well-kept secret and now listed in the Michelin Thailand guide, offers guests a chance to indulge in delectable bite-sized dumplings.

The Nam Jai also gracefully drifts through the city during twilight, passing under iconic bridges, alongside small temples, and through lush greenery. As the sky stills, the river sparkles with golden hues, and the banks come alive with thousands of lights. Guests savor free-flow canapés and cocktails against this enchanting backdrop.

Nam Jit Cruises

The deck of Nam Jit sets the stage for a regal tradition – daily afternoon tea. Elevating the classic English tradition with a tropical twist, every pastry, scone, and cake is seasonally inspired, freshly baked, and artfully presented. Guests can pair each delectable bite with their choice of tea, coffee, or even sparkling wine.

The dinner cruise on Nam Jit is a lavish affair, featuring four courses of royal Thai cuisine served under the starlight. The experience is further enhanced by free-flowing drinks, including champagne toasts to a magical night. The boat’s bar is staffed with a skilled mixologist crafting signature cocktails to complement the sumptuous dining experience.

“Not only does a cruise along the Mae Ping allow our guests to go behind the scenes of daily Chiang Mai life, but with the added luxuries of fine dining and superior comfort, the experience promises to be most memorable, one that our guests can cherish long after they leave us”
