TIAO appoints Andrew Siegwart as President & CEO, effective Jan 21, 2024, to lead innovation and growth in Ontario tourism sector.
The Ontario Tourism Industry Association (TIAO) has unveiled the appointment of Andrew Siegwart as the incoming President & CEO, set to commence his tenure on January 21, 2024. Mr. Siegwart steps into this role backed by extensive expertise in guiding tourism and related fields through his adept capabilities in leadership, advocacy, and enhancing community ties. His mission is to steer TIAO towards a period marked by innovation and progressive expansion.

Rebecca Mackenzie, the Chair of TIAO’s Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Andrew’s capabilities, highlighting his strengths in leadership and advocacy as well as his dedication to fostering community growth. “With Andrew at the helm, we are poised to further cement tourism’s role as a key contributor to Ontario’s economic and social landscape. TIAO is committed to providing visionary leadership to ensure the sector seizes every possible opportunity,” she stated.
Bringing a rich tapestry of experiences and skills, Andrew Siegwart has previously made remarkable strides during his eight-year tenure as President and CEO of the Blue Mountain Village Association (BMVA). There, he championed advocacy efforts, solidified stakeholder alliances, and enhanced the organization’s visibility. Under his direction, the BMVA saw notable achievements such as heightened member involvement, innovative destination marketing initiatives, financial stability, and regional economic growth.
In his prior role as Senior Vice-President with the Retail Council of Canada (RCC), Andrew demonstrated his prowess by leading pivotal departments and specialized teams, encompassing areas like events, education, sponsorship, communications, membership, research, and program development. His advocacy work was particularly influential in addressing crucial issues such as labor and workforce development, showcasing his aptitude for managing diverse member needs and forging impactful partnerships.
Andrew expressed enthusiasm about his new position with TIAO. “Joining TIAO at this pivotal juncture is an exciting opportunity, and I am eager to work alongside our members, industry stakeholders, and government representatives to ensure that tourism continues to be a driving force for economic, cultural, and social advancement throughout Ontario,” he said.

Mr. Siegwart’s dedication to community upliftment is further demonstrated through his volunteer work, including his role as a Director at the Town of The Blue Mountain’s Attainable Housing Corporation, focusing on workforce and community housing initiatives. He also played a pivotal role in establishing The LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Club of South Georgian Bay, a non-profit aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the community and local economy.
In his commitment to fostering reconciliation, Andrew plans to align TIAO’s efforts with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, applying these principles within the tourism sector. His tenure at BMVA has equipped him with valuable insights in this area, and he is keen to collaborate with Indigenous communities and organizations towards this vital aim.
As TIAO’s new President & CEO, Andrew Siegwart is set to lead the organization in enhancing Ontario’s tourism industry, focusing on sustainable growth and aligning with broader societal objectives.
