Planning a winter beach getaway to Anguilla has become more convenient than ever, thanks to increased frequency and the introduction of new flight routes to the island.

American Airlines, pioneering direct service from the US mainland to Anguilla, currently offers daily direct flights from Miami International (MIA) to Anguilla (AXA), including two flights on Saturdays. Starting December 20, 2023, the schedule will expand to twice-daily service and extend through the summer of 2024, providing connections to/from the UK and Canada.

Kenroy Herbert, Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board, emphasized the significance of this expanded airlift for the winter season. He sees it as a vote of confidence in Anguilla’s tourism product and a commitment to enhancing accessibility to the island, aligning with the strategic objective of making Anguilla a year-round destination.

The new Blowing Point Ferry Terminal, operational since January 2023, serves as the primary entry point for visitors arriving by private charter and public ferry. Travelers arriving via the Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten (SXM) can choose between air and sea transportation to Anguilla. The inter-island flight takes approximately 7 minutes, making it the world’s shortest international flight. Alternatively, there are 25-minute boat transfers from the Anguilla-St. Maarten Ferry Terminal (ASMFT) on the Dutch side or a 30-minute public ferry ride from Marigot on the French side of St. Martin, both culminating at the Blowing Point ferry terminal in Anguilla.

For those in the New York metro area, the Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club offers charter service flights from the Westchester County Airport (HPN) to Anguilla. The Aurora Charter Air Service, available from mid-December through April 2024, caters to both resort guests and non-residents.

Travelers from the UK can reach Anguilla (AXA) through British Airways or Virgin Atlantic via services to Antigua, followed by a short inter-island flight to Anguilla. An alternative route involves KLM/Air France via Amsterdam/Paris to St. Maarten (SXM), followed by a short boat transfer or flight.

Intra-regional service has expanded with new routes connecting Anguilla, Antigua, and St. Barths. Anguilla Air Services (AAS) operates scheduled flights between Anguilla (AXA) and Antigua (ANU) three times per week, from November 3 to April 2024, catering to UK and Caribbean travelers.

Trans Anguilla Airways offers daily flights between Anguilla and St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, St. Eustatius, and St. Maarten, with scheduled service to Tortola (BVI) and Virgin Gorda.

Tradewind Aviation, in collaboration with British Airways, offers interline booking for service between Antigua (ANU) and Anguilla (AXA) from mid-January to early April, on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, a new scheduled service from St. Barths to Anguilla will operate three times per week between January 18 and April 8, 2024. The regular scheduled service from San Juan (SJU) to Anguilla will run five days a week from December 14 through April 8, 2024.

Private charter flight options to neighboring islands such as St. Martin, St. Barths, Antigua, St. Kitts & Nevis, Tortola (BVI), and Virgin Gorda are available through Anguilla Air Services and Trans Anguilla Airways.

Infrastructure improvements at Anguilla’s Clayton J Lloyd International Airport are ongoing. Phase Two of the expansion includes the construction of a new Cargo Facility scheduled to commence at the end of 2023. Phase Three, featuring a new terminal, is slated to begin construction in 2024, followed by a runway expansion in the final stage to accommodate larger aircraft.
