The Aqaba Special Economic Authority is curating a variety of events and projects that are focused on Aqaba and the famous Golden Triangle, which consists of Aqaba, Petra, and Wadi Rum, as part of its continued effort to revitalize both domestic and international tourism. These initiatives highlight the area’s enormous potential as a thriving travel hub.

According to Jordan News Agency Petra, the city has experienced a boom in artistic, entertaining, and family-friendly festivals in recent months, adding to its attraction.

Fayez listed several activities carried out in conjunction with partners in the tourism sector to highlight the authority’s proactive involvement. These include promoting the city’s tourist attractions and holding several family-friendly activities that are all open to the general public in Aqaba.

A massive seabed cleanup campaign was just started at Aqaba’s main beach, underscoring the city’s commitment to protecting the marine environment. This project, in which 120 divers took part, demonstrates the city’s dedication to environmentally friendly travel.

“The city’s maritime infrastructure and the synergistic collaboration between the public and private sectors have elevated Aqaba’s tourism stature,” Nayef Hamidi Fayez, the head of the Aqaba special region authority, noted.

Around 100,000 tourists entered Aqaba over the last three months through its entrance points, which include the King Hussein International Airport, the passenger terminal port, and border crossings including Al-Yatm, Wadi Araba, and Al-Durra.

During this time, 2,400 buses and about 23,000 passenger cars entered the country.

One striking statistic from the authority’s data shows that nearly 71,000 tourists disembarked from 58 ships, much above the estimated 25,000 guests from 10 ships.
