From Diagon Alley to Hogwarts, London is the home of the famous fictional wizard Harry Potter. One thing is for sure—London has no shortage of New Year’s Eve festivities. It might be a bit daunting to choose a base for the biggest night of the year, given the abundance of world-class eateries, chic cocktail bars, and hip hangouts in the city. Here are the top events that will be happening in London in the New Year of 2023:
Under the glittering disco balls, Mama Shelter in Shoreditch hosts a New Year’s Eve celebration that is full of neon levity, gleams, roller blades, and glitz. It’s an affordable disco paradise that caters to anyone, complete with a drink of bubbly. Make a night of it and indulge in a seven-course dinner before the celebrations start, featuring dishes like homestyle venison pie, pan-roasted halibut, and decadent chocolate fondue with cherry anglaise.
On New Year’s Eve, Bourne & Hollingsworth opens to all partygoers in the heart of Clerkenwell. Before heading to the main dining room for a multi-course dinner party, expect live music, a cocktail reception, and canapé service.
As the Peckham and Tobacco Dock venues begin their glittering extravaganzas, dance on the rooftops at Skylight venues on New Year’s Eve. A few laps on Tobacco Dock, London’s only rooftop ice skating rink, will get the night started. Alternatively, watch the skies as Peckham lights up with fireworks. There are several packages available at each venue, ranging from basic entry tickets and VIP bundles to charcuterie and cheese-sharing boards. Get comfortable in an igloo or heated hut for groups of up to 10 people while enjoying mulled wine, meal coupons, ice skating vouchers, and a magnum of Moet.
At midnight, boats and the London Eye initiate pyrotechnics on the South Bank, which is home to the largest fireworks display. The fireworks are additionally visible from riverboats, restaurants, and bars, as well as from the streets of Central London.
