As per a survey conducted by Cheaphotels.org, Aspen, a renowned ski resort town in Colorado, ranks as the second most costly destination in the US for overnight stays during this year’s President’s Day weekend. The survey, which assessed hotel rates across the country for February 16-19, exclusively considered well-located hotels with at least a 3-star rating.
In Aspen, nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, the survey indicates that travelers can expect to spend $674 per night for the most economical double room. The only locale surpassing this rate is Wailea, a luxurious resort town on Maui Island, Hawaii, where guests must budget at least $687 per night.
Breckenridge and Vail, two other renowned ski destinations in Colorado, claim the third and fourth spots on the list of most expensive, with average rates of $654 and $622, respectively. Avon, serving as the gateway to the Beaver Creek ski resort, follows closely as the sixth priciest destination, trailing just behind Fort Myers Beach in Florida.
The survey highlights that hotel rates in the top 20 most expensive destinations have risen by approximately 15% for President’s Day weekend compared to typical rates in February. The most significant rate hikes are observed in Avon (+42%), Wailea (+39%), and Breckenridge (+32%).
