At 2022 Jefferson County Tourism Summit, Chelsea Ruby appears as the main speaker

Chelsea Ruby, the Cabinet Secretary of West Virginia Tourism Department, on Wednesday visited the Eastern Panhandle to appear as the main speaker for the 2022 Jefferson County Tourism Summit. It was organized at the Bavarian Inn.


In March 2021, Ruby was selected for her position by the Gov. Jim Justice. This in return promoted the West Virginia Tourism Office to a cabinet-level department. Under the leadership of Chelsea Ruby, tourism has witnessed with remarkable accomplishment. Also, the department got many appreciation related to marketing and advertising for a brand campaign named – “Almost Heaven”.


Ruby at the summit said that she is a “West Virginian by choice.” She also added by saying that when she was staying in Washington D.C., she went to Eastern Panhandle quite often as she loved it.


Ruby informed her audience that this area is about to reach its full potential. She said that tourism is a team sport which we all should remember. All of us should work together; no organization is in complete charge. Ruby offered comprehensive monetary figures that were generated via West Virginia tourism efforts. She also mentioned that on yearly basis, tourism related businesses and ancillary businesses generate $800 million in West Virginia. This in return created over 78,000 new jobs.


Excellent team and co-ordination has helped in growing that number constantly, said Ruby. At present, Ruby said that there are three trends that are significant to tourists like travelling to remote places, visit small towns and participate in outdoor recreations.
