At Pachamalai, Tamil Nadu, the Tourism Department has recently proposed a tribal livelihood and eco-tourism project in this low mountain range located in the eastern ghats.

Creating more opportunities related to livelihood for the Pachamalai tribes, introducing some possible tourist hotspots and showcasing and conserving the biodiversity of the hills are the main lookout of this project. It has been débuted as Tribal Livelihood Through People’s Eco Tourism campaign.

The Tourism Department under this project will introduce rudimentary infrastructure and safety measures at significant points of Mangalam Falls and Koraiyar Falls at Pachamalai for the tourists. At an estimate of ₹4.28 crore, this project has been proposed to be implemented and the finances for the project will be obtained under the Tamil Nadu Innovative Initiative.

In Salem district, the Mangalam Falls originates and flows in Tiruchi district and it culminates at Ettuerumaipallam based in Perambalur district. It afterward turns into a key source for irrigation in Perambalur district. The Koraiyar Falls originates and ends in Tiruchi district.

Both of these falls have the possibility to attract and engage tourists. But they do not have the fundamental infrastructure and facilities to safeguard baths for tourists and the project is predicted to highlight these issues.
