At some well-known tourist destinations in Odisha, the government has sped up the site developmental works, which will be managed with the help of the local stakeholders.

Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, the Chief Secretary, on Thursday, arranged a review meeting at Loka Seba Bhavan concerning the works at the Nrusinghanath temple, Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara, Harishankar temple in Bolangir, and Chandrabhaga sea beach.

Mohapatra explained that the Works Department for expeditious implementation will implement the site development work. After developing the essential amenities at Bhitarkanika, for sustainable management, the property will then be given to the Forest Department.

Mohapatra directed that site management should be done via committees involving the local stakeholders. In hospitality, sanitation and maintenance of all possible spots, local women’s self-help groups will be engaged. In four principal zones of Bhitarkanika, Dangmal, Khola, Gupti, and Chandbali, tourism aminities will be developed. Cottages, arrival plaza, floating jetties, and interpretation centres will be developed, in addition to other infrastructure related to tourist facilitation.

For tourism projects, land would be obtained and developed by the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha. The places close to Gupti, Khola and Kasturikana will be made use of.

In three phases, the project would be completed. For the creation of high-priority facilities, Rs 46 crore, in the first phase will be invested.

At Chandrabhaga beach, boating and other facilities will be done with an investment of Rs. 42 crore.
