Austin Convention Center: Lily Harris joins PCMA’s 20 in their twenties program

Lily Harris, a dynamic 23-year-old professional currently serving as the Event Coordinator at the Austin Convention Center, has been selected as one of the emerging leaders for the class of 2024 to participate in the “20 in Their Twenties” program, presented by the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).

The 2024 program class consists of emerging leaders who have exhibited strong leadership qualities, offering a treasure trove of innovative ideas to the business industry. They represent business event strategists, suppliers, and destinations from all PCMA regions, including APAC, Canada, EMEA, LATAM, and the United States.

Expressing her gratitude, Lily Harris, Event Coordinator at the Austin Convention Center, remarked, “I am deeply honored to be chosen as part of this year’s 20 in Their Twenties class. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support and mentorship from all the departments at the ACC.”

Sponsored by the PCMA Foundation and Experience Columbus, the class of 2024 will be officially introduced at Convening Leaders 2024 (CL24) from January 7-10 in San Diego, California. Members of this class will receive scholarships to attend CL24, registration for EduCon 2024 in Detroit, a one-year PCMA membership, and a feature story in PCMA’s Convene magazine.

Since August 2022, Harris has played an integral role in the Austin Convention Center team. Initially starting as a temporary Event Coordinator and Guest Services Representative, she has ascended to the position of a full-time Event Coordinator.

In her current capacity, Harris shoulders the responsibility of meticulously preparing, producing, and coordinating event timelines and production schedules. This encompasses overseeing communications related to audiovisuals, security, catering, decor, invoices, and both internal and external room set drawings. Additionally, Harris serves as the Event Coordinator for some of the convention center’s most significant shows, including SXSW and Keller Williams.

Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Texas Tech University. She is a proud native of Austin, Texas, and an alumna of Austin High School.

PCMA stands as the world’s largest community for Business Events Strategists, boasting more than 7,000 members. Headquartered in Chicago, PCMA has 17 chapters spanning the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with members hailing from over 59 countries.
