P&O Cruises Australia has announced the cancellation of the final sailing of Pacific Encounter, citing the impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred as the primary reason for the disruption.
Originally scheduled to depart from Brisbane on March 8, 2025, for a seven-night cruise to the Pacific Islands, the voyage has now been officially scrapped. The cancellation comes just before the ship’s planned transfer to Carnival Cruise Line in mid-March.

Passengers affected by the cancellation will receive a full refund, including their cruise fare and any pre-paid items, packages, or shore excursions. Additionally, P&O has advised guests to reach out to their travel insurance providers for reimbursement on out-of-pocket expenses, such as flight cancellation fees.
Meanwhile, Carnival Cruise Line Australia has also been closely monitoring the impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred on its fleet and operations. After a three-night cruise was canceled last week, Carnival Luminosa is now scheduled to resume operations with a shortened voyage departing on March 9.
