Australia finally lifts its border restrictions after almost two years

At 6:20 am on Monday (Feb 21), a flight from Los Angeles landed in Sydney, bringing in a planeload of passengers to come ashoreand they were greeted by crews of local media who were eager to record the historic event.

The flight was the first to arrive in Sydney after Australia finally lifted its border restrictions after almost two years.

Allowing all foreign travelers to enter is expected to deliver a much-needed boost to the tourism and university sectors, which were hit hard by the border closures.

The biggest smiles at Sydney airport on Monday were on the faces of numerous family members who finally got the chance to be reunited after months or years of separation from their near and dear ones.
