Australian states and tourism sectors are currently full of activity to build China’s largest international tourist market once again.

Phillipa Harrison, the managing director of Tourism Australia, said that for Australia, China is a vital market. This government agency entrusted to attract visitors from other countries. Phillipa also said that China was their number one market in regard to both spending before the pandemic as well as visitation and it is great to witness travelers from China slowly returning to Australia.

The Tourism Australia is quite confident about the future. To return to 2019 intensity, visitation levels will take time to bounce back and aviation capacity has to reconstruct, however, there are heartening signs though, she said.

She also stated that the newest data in terms of foreign visitor arrivals shows that Australia during February welcomed over 40,000 travelers from China. This in the previous month went up from around 15,000. Harrison said that the numbers show that for Chinese travelers, Australia remains a top spot.

Even the Australian Tourism Exchange, the leading travel industry trade show of Australia had one word bandied regarding its recent five-day conference.

Organized from April 30 till May 4th at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre located in Queensland, this annual show drew 2,300 delegates from 30 nations worldwide, with China having the biggest body, comprising 113 people, pin pointing all aspects of the sector.
