The AlUla Falcon Cup, a prominent attraction in the AlUla Governorate, has been enticing international tourists with a distinctive display: falcons accompanying their owners on flights and participating in the Al-Milwah competition.
While in AlUla, an Australian family became captivated by the traditional art of falconry. The sight of falcons perched on their handlers’ arms during the flight initially caught their attention, and their fascination deepened when they witnessed the same spectacle at Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz International Airport. The family’s interest grew through repeated encounters with the falcons and their handlers.
Together with other visitors, this family has been exploring AlUla’s rich heritage, including the extraordinary Elephant Rock and the ancient Dadan and Lihyan tombs. Their journey reached its pinnacle at the AlUla Falcon Cup in Moghairah, where they gained a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of falconry in Saudi Arabia. Impressed by the event’s organization and the area’s design, their visit was immortalized with photos alongside the magnificent falcons.
Operating daily from 8 AM, the AlUla Falcon Cup, organized by the Saudi Falcon Club in collaboration with the Royal Commission for AlUla, offers free ticket booking through the ‘AlUla Moments’ platform. It extends an invitation to visitors to immerse themselves in this unique facet of Saudi culture.
