Avelo Airlines, growth,

Kicking off the new year with a remarkable ascent, Avelo Airlines has become a beacon of dependability in the American aviation sector, following a remarkable 85% boost in customer base in 2023.

The esteemed Anuvu, a frontrunner in providing connectivity and entertainment for global aviation and maritime sectors (Anuvu.com), highlights Avelo’s achievement of the lowest rate of flight cancellations in the U.S. airline industry, and securing the second position in punctuality in 2023. Anuvu’s assessment encompasses all 12 major U.S. airlines offering regular services.

In a landmark moment on April 28, 2021, Avelo Airlines embarked on its inaugural journey, connecting Burbank and Santa Rosa from the Hollywood Burbank Airport in Burbank, California. This significant event was captured in a photograph by Joe Scarnici for Avelo Air, as featured in a PRNewsfoto release by Avelo Airlines.

Andrew Levy, the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Avelo Airlines, expressed optimism for 2024, attributing the company’s success to its dedication to operational excellence. This commitment was evident in 2023, with significant enhancements in flight dependability. Levy takes pride in the industry-leading reliability offered by Avelo, ensuring a seamless and convenient travel experience for customers, a trend they are set to continue in 2024. Levy also highlighted that 2023 was the airline’s most prosperous and active year, with expectations for 2024 to surpass it.

In 2023, Avelo Airlines set an industry benchmark by canceling only 0.18% of its flights, marking the lowest cancellation rate in the U.S. airline industry. The industry average was 1.3%, with Alaska Airlines coming in second with a 0.71% cancellation rate. Avelo’s rate showed significant improvement from 2022’s 0.85%, which was then the second-best in the industry.

Additionally, Avelo’s punctuality was notable, with 82.8% of flights arriving within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, surpassing the Department of Transportation’s A14 standard. This was a significant improvement from 2022, where Avelo ranked fourth in punctuality.

The year 2023 was also marked by substantial growth for Avelo. The airline flew 2.3 million customers, an 85% increase from 2022, and operated 17,000 flights, a 71% rise from the previous year. Since its inception in April 2021, Avelo has flown close to 4 million customers over nearly 30,000 flights.

Avelo’s network expanded significantly in 2023, with 44 destinations across 23 states and Puerto Rico, adding 10 new destinations and concluding the year with 66 routes. The airline also opened new bases in Philadelphia / Wilmington, DE; Raleigh Durham, NC; and Las Vegas, NV, joining existing bases in Los Angeles / Burbank, CA; New Haven, CT; and Orlando, FL.

The airline’s fleet consists of 16 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, with plans to add up to five more in the latter half of 2024. Avelo’s team grew to 1,000 crewmembers in 2023, including about 175 pilots and 225 flight attendants.

Avelo Airlines stands out for its commitment to convenience, flying nonstop on every route and often using smaller, more accessible airports. The airline offers flexible itinerary changes with no extra fees, guaranteed seating for children 13 and under with an accompanying adult at no extra cost, and various travel-enhancing options such as advance seat assignments, priority boarding, baggage options, and pet travel accommodations.
