Dive into an extraordinary adventure with Aviationtag’s newest release, made from the iconic Airbus A330-200 OY-GRN, fondly dubbed “Norsaq.” In the Greenlandic language, “Norsaq” signifies a launch pad or stick used to hurl a harpoon, an essential tool in ancestral hunting practices.

Norsaq is more than just an airplane – she represents a bond, a collection of experiences, and a fragment of Greenlandic heritage, forging a connection between one of the Earth’s most secluded regions and the wider world. For more than twenty years, she has played a pivotal role as the main conduit between Greenland and Denmark.

But Norsaq’s contributions extend beyond merely ferrying passengers. She has bridged distances between families and paved the way for new explorations. Beyond her regular journeys between Denmark and Greenland, she has carried cheerful tourists on charter flights to Southern Europe and supported Greenlandic athletes’ participation in the Arctic Winter Games in Canada and the USA. Norsaq has been a venue for live music performances, witnessed a marriage ceremony, and consistently symbolized the spirit of exploration for many Greenlandic generations.

“In a poignant farewell, Norsaq, an iconic aircraft cherished by many, performed a ceremonial low
pass over the capital, Nuuk, halting the city in a moment of collective reverence. Norsaq’s journeys
across the Atlantic have not only connected landscapes but hearts and histories, earning it a
special place in the narrative of our passengers and the broader community. “Norsaq has been
more than an aircraft; it’s been a bridge between destinations and people, a constant in the ever-
changing skies,” stated Jacob Nitter Sørensen, CEO of Air Greenland. He expressed contentment
in preserving the legacy of Norsaq through Aviationtags, offering individuals a chance to hold a
piece of history. “As Norsaq transitions to its final destination, its spirit endures, inviting everyone to
own a fragment of this remarkable story,” he added.

Before being retired on March 12, 2023, Norsaq logged 41,364 hours in the air and achieved 10,112 takeoffs and landings. Initially joining Air Greenland’s fleet in August 2002, Norsaq previously served Belgian airline Sabena until its bankruptcy in November 2001, flying under the registration OO-SFP.

As part of her journey to Arizona, Air Greenland orchestrated a memorable flyby over Nuuk for Norsaq’s final voyage, making its last flight GL930 from Copenhagen to Tucson. This farewell flight included a special detour over Greenland’s capital, prompting residents to gather and bid adieu to the beloved aircraft.

Now, transformed into an Aviationtag, this piece of aviation history offers you the chance to hold a fragment of Norsaq’s storied legacy. More than a mere accessory, this tag carries the essence of Norsaq’s adventures, allowing its narrative to continue its journey with you, whether as a keychain or a luggage identifier.

“Our collaboration with Air Greenland symbolizes our commitment to transforming legendary
aircraft like Norsaq into timeless Aviationtags, allowing enthusiasts to carry a tangible piece of
aviation heritage” says Tobias Richter, Chief Commercial Officer of Aviationtag.
