Published on October 23, 2025

Bali

People have discussed the island of Bali countless times, famous for its nature, culture, landscapes, and is known for being one of the first green tourist destinations. While the still green Bali is in the first phase of the tourist arrivals, the island is still green, and dr. I Wayan Suardana, one of the first and foremost tourism professors at Udayana University of Bali from Denpasar, has shared pak Suardana’s concern about the growth of the island tourism in its coastal reginos. According to Mr. Suardana, today’s rapid growth of the tourism industry in Bali is reaching to the forests and landscapes of the island, and is infact the Bali scrubbing the skylimits to bloom.

With it’s nature, tourism in Bali is also known for its lush forests and also mountain terrains, scattered with small lush green rice fields which can be seen from half a mile up. The instant the constructed the decorator villas and luxury resorts, the lush field screamed in pain. Bali is known for it’s untouched culture, unlike the rest of the world. The excercised used to counter dr. Suardana’s rapid tourism growth are meausures compromised of planning. The parties involved are the policy maker and administrator at the green spaces in control. Also to ensure they are not violated, guidelines must be bushes to ensure the spaces are preserved.

The Growth of Tourism as Experienced in Bali and the ecosystem on the island.

In the last few years Bali has seen tremendous growth in the emcononical sector and due to this, the beaches, temples and the regional culture have attracted many foreign tourist, of which we see millions visiting every year. Bali is also liekly to have attracted tourists through the eco-friendly tourism as we have the superb trekking and the forests aroud ubud as well as the holy Besakih Temple on mount Agung. Whereas, the remote natural landscapes are increasingly being subjected to development activities, especially as by the shore.

In the opnion of Dr. Suardana, the ongoing development takes place in and around the sea shore which is also one of the greenest and nature rich areas on the island. Beyound that it also includes the installation of water tourism, resorts, hotels and supporting buildings, these thesis of her are lashing the exotic vegetation of the island and is also perilous to the natural systems of the island. Although the movement of people to Bali has increased the financial income of the place, it still needs to adopt the modern eco-friendly approaches to keep it Bali’s natural beauty. The Role of Bali’s Green Landscapes in Tourism

The green landscape of Bali, from forests to its agricultural terraces, serves as an attraction for those in search of adventure, as well as those looking for peace and calm. Agro tourism is particularly popular in rural Bali, where tourists can visit traditional rice paddies, practice local farming, and relish the beauty of the central mountains.

Bali is sometimes referred to as `the world’s eco-masterpiece’ due to its lush countryside and rich culture, which attracts tourists from all over the world to its sustainable tourism. As an example, Ubud has the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and serves as Bali’s cultural heart. It attracts eco-friendly tourists for its calm riverside retreats and eco-friendly forests.

More and more tourists are travelling to Bali in hopes of going on a nature retreat and learning about the local culture due to the splendor of the island and the offered eco-lodges, sustainable tourism resorts, and wellness centers. While these ventures offer an unmatched tourism experience, Bali is still in danger due to the uncontrolled development threatening green spaces. An Appeal for Sustainable Tourism Practices

In the opinion of Dr. Suardana, the economic advancement resulting from the activity of tourism should go hand in hand with the conservation of nature, which is not the case currently in Bali. There should be eco-friendly tourism-driven infrastructure development and the development of green spaces.

He, along with the Bali Provincial Government, the Ministry of Tourism, and some local environmentalist corporations, has been involved in sustainable and responsible tourism initiatives such as eco and conservation tours and the development of effective control zones of development. Criticism has arisen from the unwillingness of these initiatives to development imbalance, which is critical for the preservation of Bali’s environmental and cultural treasures.

In Bali, there is an eco-friendly initiative called Bali Green School, which incorporates environmental education with practices of sustainable eco-friendly living. A model such as this helps her clients know and appreciate the sustainable values of Bali, supporting the local eco-friendly initiatives.

Supporting Responsible Tourism and Local Communities

Something that would benefit Bali is tourism; it is important to talk to the local communities about. Local farmers and businesses near tourism sites utilise ecotourism as their source of income. Advocacy on tourism and rural development Bali would help the communities.

Similarly, Dr. Suardana’s action is an effort to promote responsible tourism and support to Balkan development and the economic development. In order for Bali to succeed, it would need cooperation from the government and private sectors as well as the local communities.

Looking Ahead: Preserving Bali’s Legacy for Future Generations

If Bali were to sell more, it would need to maintain the number of people using the area to spend their resources in development. With the number of tourists increasing, the tourist would need to maintain the heritage of the island.

Dr. Suardana’s plea to local leaders and tourism officials is an example of how sustainable tourism is more than a desire; it is a requirement. Balancing Bali’s natural beauty and it’s traditional practices will allow the island to flourish as an international tourist hotspot, while still protecting the island’s fragile environmental and cultural heritage.
