Bangkok to host 47th PATA Travel Mart in August

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has announced the upcoming PATA Travel Mart 2024, which is scheduled to take place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 27 to August 29.

PATA’s headquarters have been based in Thailand for over 25 years, having moved from San Francisco to Thailand in 1998 following an extensive selection process. Throughout these years, entities such as the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, and the PATA Thailand Chapter have consistently supported the association. The 47th PATA Travel Mart (PTM) marks a celebration of the enduring collaboration between PATA and Thai tourism, according to PATA Chair, Peter Semone.

PATA CEO, Noor Ahmad Hamid, highlighted the timeliness of the PATA Travel Mart, especially as the travel and tourism sector in the Asia Pacific region is experiencing significant recovery and growth. The event will include a one-day conference, a two-day business-to-business travel mart, over 10,000 business appointments, and participants from more than 40 locations across six regions. This makes it a prime opportunity for industry professionals to network, collaborate, and explore new business opportunities. Hamid noted that Thailand, with its nearly 30 million international visitors in 2023 and a recent visa exemption policy for travelers from over 60 countries, offers an excellent backdrop for business-to-business networking and partnership development.

Additionally, Hamid mentioned that according to a 2022 report by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), Thailand ranked first in ASEAN and fourth in Asia for exhibition space. Bangkok, known as a MICE hub, boasts excellent connectivity through its two international airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, along with a comprehensive rail and public transport system, making it an attractive location for meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions, and mega-events.

The 47th edition of the PATA Travel Mart serves as a premier platform for travel and tourism professionals in the Asia Pacific to engage in high-level networking and business opportunities. The event aims to facilitate access to key decision-makers, forge new client relationships, expand networks, establish new partnerships, and strengthen existing ones.

The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), chosen for its central location in Bangkok, has undergone renovations to feature a modern and elegant design that pays homage to Thai culture while emphasizing sustainability. The venue is well-connected by various transportation modes, including direct access via the MRT’s QSNCC station. Attendees can also enjoy the scenic views of the nearby lake and park or explore Benjakitti Park for leisure.
