The tourists coming to Manali, the 13,058-feet long Rohtang Pass is their first choice. However, at present, according to the rules of the National Green Tribunal, on an everyday basis, only 1,200 vehicles are allowed. As a result of which, tourists are heading towards the Baralacha Pass, its 16,040-feet and is located in the Lahaul valley. The visitors are crossing the Atal Tunnel to witness the heavy snow.

These days, the number of tourists moving toward Shinkula and Baralacha has increased more compared to the Rohtang Pass. Over 1,500 vehicles, along with the ones going to Leh, are plying to Baralacha. In the meantime, a luxury bus service has been introduced by the Himachal Tourism Development Corporation for Baralacha. Two buses are going for Baralacha fully packed on an everyday basis. BS Aukta, DGM of HTDC, explained that both buses going to Baralacha are full with enthusiasts.

The number of vehicles going to the Rohtang Pass has been capped by NGT. Only 800 petrol and 400 diesel vehicles can go to the Rohtang Pass every day after securing the online permits. In addition, 100 vehicles are permitted which has got special permits; however, the tourist number is pretty high and online slots are being pre-booked for a week.

As a result, to enjoy snow, now, tourists are heading for the Baralacha Pass. The number of tourists visiting Baralacha is increasing on a constant basis.
