Over the first nine months of this year, the airport experienced a 42% surge in passenger numbers compared to the previous year and a 25% increase from the same period in 2019. The upward trajectory continued with more than 62,000 flights, marking a 26% rise from the previous year and a 15% uptick from 2019.

VINCI Airports is actively modernizing Belgrade Airport, with significant enhancements slated for completion by 2023. These include a new central terminal section, a functional second runway during the primary runway’s reconstruction, and revamped central contact parking and access roads, streamlining terminal access, featuring a new Kiss and Fly zone for short stays.

The expansion and modernization drive is ongoing, with all key projects expected to conclude by the summer of 2024. Anticipated results include elevating Belgrade Airport’s total capacity to 15 million passengers annually by the end of the concession period.

To commemorate the seven millionth passenger milestone, Belgrade Airport and Air Serbia awarded the traveler a flight voucher, offering a complimentary round trip to a destination of her choice.

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome more than 7 million passengers this year, especially considering the fact that we surpassed the record of 6.2 million passengers in the pre-pandemic 2019. This result was largely contributed by Air Serbia, which also recorded a record number this year passengers and new routes, as well as significant traffic of other partner airlines. The dynamic recovery of traffic and continuous works on expansion, modernization and capacity increase show that we are well on our way to making our airport a key hub in our region. I congratulate Ms. Kandić, I hope that this gift-trip will bring her a lot of good memories,” said Francois Berisot, Belgrade airport CEO.

“Nikola Tesla Airport is our home base and a vital hub from which Air Serbia passengers travel for a large number of destinations to which we fly from Belgrade. Seven million passengers have used the airport’s services so far in 2023, and more than half of them flew with Air Serbia. Hence the desire to celebrate this success together. I congratulate the Belgrade Airport on the achieved result, and I wish Ms. Kandic who today received two airline tickets from us to the city of his choice from the Air Serbia network have a pleasant stay at the chosen destination,” said Milan Malović, Air Serbia COO.
