Bengal village selected as the best tourism village in India

Kiriteswari Temple is located in Kiritkona village. This small village falls under the Nabagram CD block of Murshidabad district in the Lalbag subdivision of West Bengal. In September 2023, this small village of Murshidabad was chosen as India’s best tourism village. This is one of the Shakti Pithas.


This good news was declared by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee on Thursday. She also added that this village defeated around 795 applications which was received from almost 31 states as well as Union Territories and bagged this prestigious honour.


Ms Bannerjee also said that she is glad to share this news and declare that the Ministry of Tourism, India Government, has selected Kiriteshwari village in Murshidabad as the Best Tourism Village of the country. In the Best Tourism Village Competition, this selection happened from 795 applications received.


She also added that on September 27 th , the Union ministry will give away the award at a ceremony in New Delhi.


MoT, GoI will give the awards in the capital and she will congratulate the people of the village. She ended her speech by saying ‘Jai Bangla.’


Other than its picturesque charm of the village, this hamlet’s big attraction is the Kiriteswari temple.
