BER Airport Welcomes 1.57 Million Passengers in February 2024; Air Freight Maintains Strong Performance

Preliminary traffic report figures indicate that approximately 1.57 million passengers utilized BER in February 2024, marking a 10.9% rise from February 2023’s count of around 1.42 million passengers. This contrasts with the pre-pandemic figures of February 2019, when a combined total of 2.54 million passengers traveled through Tegel and Schönefeld airports.

In terms of flight activity, February 2024 saw 12,433 aircraft operations at BER, reflecting a 9.7% increase from February 2023’s 11,338 movements. This is in comparison to February 2019, the pre-COVID-19 period, when Tegel and Schönefeld airports together accounted for 22,041 take-offs and landings.

Regarding cargo, BER handled approximately 2,991 tonnes of air freight in February 2024, up by 10.9% from the same month in the previous year. This represents a significant increase of 20.5% over the 2,482 tonnes processed in February of the pre-pandemic year 2019.
