Berlin, New York, and Cape Town have forged a groundbreaking intercontinental tourism alliance, unveiled on World Tourism Day, aimed at revolutionizing travel experiences for global visitors. This new partnership will focus on creating innovative visitor programs, joint marketing campaigns, and addressing the dynamic needs of a cosmopolitan audience. The collaboration was launched with the debut of a joint short film at New York’s Mercer Lab, symbolizing the unity and shared vision of the three cities.
Enver Duminy, Managing Director of Cape Town Tourism, emphasized the significance of this collaboration. “Cape Town embodies resilience and diversity. By partnering with New York and Berlin, we aim to share our unique South African story with the world, demonstrating the powerful impact of travel on global peace and understanding,” Duminy stated.

The film, titled ‘One Small World,’ features cultural, gastronomic, and wellness themes from each city, emphasizing their diversity while celebrating their interconnectedness. Scheduled for a World Tourism Day 2024 release on social media, the film aims to showcase the unique yet unified spirit of Berlin, New York, and Cape Town.
Looking ahead, the cities plan to expand this alliance with additional marketing initiatives, involving other global cities and developing a central informational platform. This platform will highlight cultural events and key attractions, fostering knowledge exchange and setting new trends in city-friendly tourism.
