The famous hospitality brand names like Hyatt Regency, Oberoi, Taj, and others, are now targeting to seize heritage properties like havelis and kothis in Uttar Pradesh, under the plan of heritage tourism.
The state government has disclosed an ambitious proposal to provide the best heritage properties to the private players in well-known towns like Mathura, Lucknow, Kanpur, and others.
The state tourism department in this phase has recognized nine forts and palaces for altering them into heritage properties. These will serve to the premium segment of tourists and backpackers, both in terms of domestic and international.
In question, the heritage properties which exists are Chunar Fort in Mirzapur, Barua Sagar Fort situated in Jhansi, Chhattar Manzil located in Lucknow, Kothi Darshan Vilas, Kothi Gulistan-e-Iram, and Lucknow’s Kothi Roshan, Barsana Jal Mahal based in Mathura; Kanpur’s Shukla Talaba and Tikait Rai Baradari located in Bithoor.
As these traditional sites will be modified into hospitality properties, careful attention will be given to safeguard their unique furnishings, mode, and archaeological importance. With the selected private partner, this will be a part of the contract that would be signed.
As the tourism department of the state has started the bidding process, several top resorts, hotels, and hospitality names have expressed inclination in the project.
